Samira makes her stylish debut and the team's labor of love, Sett, will be joining her in our last major content patch.

Additionally, we have extra The Climb content, balance changes, bug fixes, and Leaderboard update that lets you see how you measure up against others online. Read on for all the details.

New Content

New Champion: Sett

Sett was once a no-name pit fighter, who now owns the arena he fought in. He’s a grappler-brawler hybrid who KOs opponents with explosive, chainable grabs.

System Changes

Leaderboard Updates

We heard your feedback that although Ranked is disabled, players still want a way to show off their skills. So, the Leaderboard now updates based on Leaderboard Points (LP) in the Casual lobby.

Players gain and lose LP based on match results, and the Leaderboard will show players with 2900+ LP in the current lobby. (If no one in the lobby has 2900+ LP, the Leaderboard will continue to display win streaks.)

LP gains and losses won’t appear in the post match screen, but the lobby Leaderboard will update almost immediately after matches. Check out your rank by navigating to the Main Menu > your Profile. You’ll see your rank listed, and you can also look directly at the Leaderboard from this menu!

Note: LP will also be used to matchmake you against opponents of similar LP in the Casual Lobby.

Gaining and Losing LP

LP gains and losses depend on the strength of the opponent. Here’s how it works:

  • Beat a higher-rated player: gain more LP.
  • Beat a lower-rated player: gain less LP.
  • Lose to a higher-rated player: lose less LP.
  • Lose to a lower-rated player: lose more LP.

The more unexpected the result, the larger the LP change.

LP Decay

To keep the Leaderboard fresh and focused on active players, we’re adding LP decay.

After 14 days of inactivity, players will lose 25 LP per day down to a minimum of 2800 LP, which is 100 LP below the Leaderboard requirement.

Playing again stops the decay immediately and resets the inactivity timer.

Matchmaking Updates

To peel back the curtain, matchmaking algorithms are a tight rope balancing time-to-match and finding opponents of a similar skill level. Previously, Casual Lobby optimized for the former and Ranked Lobby optimized for the latter.

With the consolidation into Casual Lobby we’ve seen folks both want faster matches, and more matches against other players of a similar rank. Since it’s very difficult to do both at the same time we will be changing how the matchmaking algorithm and queues work in the following ways:

  • When you queue for a match by hitting the “Find Match” button, you will be put into the queue and it will optimize matchmaking speed above all else.
  • When you sit down at a cab and queue through Training Mode, you will be put into a queue and it will optimize match fairness above all else.

Players will all remain in the same queue, but their matchmaking priorities will be weighted differently.

We hope this change in combination with the Leaderboard updates will provide an experience that keeps the Casual Lobby feeling full and alive while still providing options for how you want to play.

Quality of Life

  • A new “Input Delay” option has been added to the Settings menu. Changes to this setting will only be applied to offline game modes.
    • This can be found by navigating to Settings > Gameplay > Input.
    • When playing on PC in Offline mode, we suggest keeping this setting at the default of 3 frames of latency.
  • Launching online Training mode will now load your latest offline Training mode options.
  • The Casual lobby is getting a scary new look in this patch.
    • From this patch onward, the Casual lobby’s appearance will change periodically.

Core Gameplay

We have no major system changes in this patch. However, we have fixed numerous high-impact bugs.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug where Limit Strike would not grant a Limit Strike Bonus if the player defeated the opponent’s second champion with a Limit Strike.
  • Fixed an issue where Tag Launcher had 1 less frame of hitstun than intended when used in a combo without launches.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed players in the corner to be crossed up after being hit by Break or Getup Attack.
  • Fixed an issue where Break/Fury Break would have 1 less frame of hitstun when activated by player 1.
  • Fixed an issue where opponents teching your throw would remove 2 seconds from your Teamfight timer.
  • Restoring save state in Training mode should now properly apply any reversal settings.
  • Fixed an issue where + inputs would be held going into a new match after ending a long set online.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Fury’s Eject to behave differently depending on which side of the stage it was used on and how many times it was used, allowing for a cross up after Fury Eject in certain situations.
  • Fixed an issue where selecting random counterhit in Settings did not actually result in random counterhits.

Champion Adjustments

Just want the high-level changes? There’s a summary at the top of each section. Dive into the details below.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue where quickly pausing/unpausing while using online Training mode would cause a game crash.
  • Fixed an issue where exiting the Lobby menu would cause a certain directional key to be spammed until the game was restarted.
  • Fixed an issue with reversals after block in Training mode.
